  Headaches: Tips For Relief
By: Catherine Meyers on May 6, 2008

Everyone gets a headache sometime in their lifetime; some suffer from this condition more often. They can be mild to severe, leaving the person paralyzed and crying out in pain. These headaches can be caused due to various triggers and causes. It is essential to understand the cause before treating the condition.

Stress, long working hours, working on the computer with no breaks, eye problem, high blood pressure, bad eating habits are some of the common reasons for headaches. With advancement of technology, people have begun using the latest gadgets for work and personal purposes. And at times lose track of time and are hooked on it not realizing they are harming their body. Also, in people suffering from brain tumor, headaches are a common sign.

Pain the temple region, back of the head, neck or even near the shoulder blades could be seen during episodes of headaches. It is said that headaches occur when the muscles around the head, brain area is under a lot of pressure or not getting enough oxygen. There are some people who get headaches if they have skipped a meal or their body is dehydrated. Lack of food and water being the sole reasons here.

Having a healthy lifestyle and being conscious of what one eats or does is very important to keep headaches at bay. There are some who get headaches while in their teens or early 20s. It could be because of unhealthy lifestyle, or being addicted to drugs or alcohol. When a person tries to kick the habit, it is bound to be difficult, but they will notice headaches disappearing.

Migraines are another common kind of headache, but the most severe of them all. People suffering from this, will not be able to do anything, but want to curl up and wish the pain subsides. For them, a minute will seem like forever and pain will take a while in subsiding. There is no known instant cure for this ailment, but treatment over a period of time will have effects.

Nausea, loss of appetite, and irritable mood are some signs that we notice in people who get headaches often. They are unable to bear the pain and these side effects only make their condition worse. However, if a person has been suffering from headaches frequently, they need to consult a doctor for it might be something else altogether requiring different treatment.
